Creating decision makers
When creating visual art, kids strategically make independent decisions about the art they are creating. Does what I am creating look like the vision that’s in my head? How can I adjust or add to my project to make it more like that vision? Art is about problem-solving and innovation.
Learning to focus
Art is a process that takes time. In today’s quick information, instant gratification world, many kids need activities that help them stretch their patience and focus. In art camp, kids reap great benefits from learning to imagine, create, refine, and complete art projects. Seeing that process through from beginning to end takes some time. Campers don’t even realize how much they are stretching their attention spans because they are having so much fun!
