I started taking voice lessons with Angela Simpson a few months ago and I’m already seeing massive improvements in my skills! She has a fantastic ear and can quickly pinpoint aspects of my voice or bad habits I need to focus on. As for Charlotte Academy of Music as a whole, I love seeing how many shows they put on to give the kids an opportunity to perform! My child participated in the Summer Production of Matilda Jr. as well as Jr Theatre Festival (JTF), and both experiences were exceptional. What made them so special was the way the teachers and directors at CAM fostered a positive, encouraging environment while still holding students to high standards. The leadership was professional, nurturing, and genuinely invested in helping students grow—not only as performers, but as confident, resilient young people.

The kids didn’t skip a beat (literally). The main thing that is apparent is how much the kids truly enjoy being a part of the production and it shines through in their faces as they dance! It’s incredible how confident these kids are with their routines and lines, yet they’re able to remember to enjoy their performance. It’s easy to see that The Academy is focusing on the kids’ teamwork, friendships, and growth of their talent.

I have done shows with CAM for almost 2 years now and the growth I have had as a performer is irreplaceable . The auditions for the musicals are so relaxed and the first time I ever auditioned I felt so supported and comfortable. The shine musical theatre program that CAM offers is so inclusive and as an individual I have gained so much and grown so much as far as confidence, vocal improvement, and even as an actor. CAM meets you right where you are in terms of skills and experience and you learn and grow so much even if it’s just a short amount of time. I have learned to truly get to know the characters that I have played and learned how to think like the character. I have participated in Annie Jr, Beauty and the Beast jr, Matilda jr, and The wizard of oz I most recently went to Junior Theatre Festival (JTF) Atlanta with CAM and it such was an unforgettable experience. I had so much fun on the trip and it gave me experiences with actual people that have been on broadway. Every show I have done leaves me with such amazing memories and I’ve built such a close relationship with all of my peers. I definitely plan on continuing my musical theatre journey with CAM. Over the amount of time I’ve been with the company I have built amazing friendships and connections with people. Everyone has an equal opportunity at bringing their skills to the table and getting to shine. I can’t even begin to express how much I would recommend this company. The directors are so supportive and are amazing at what they do and they support us not only as performers but also as individuals. They hold us to a higher standard so it pushes us to always strive for our best and grow stronger as performers and people. The owner Mrs. Regina goes above and beyond for each and every one of us and is one of the kindest people I have ever met. She truly cares about every student and person that walks through the studio doors. Everyone at CAM is so incredibly kind and loves what they do and I would absolutely recommend to anyone and everyone wanting to perform and build a community.

For 10 years I have been given the opportunity to be able to learn, appreciate, and practice music with one the many wonderful piano teachers at the Academy, Manana Restiano. Although I spent a majority of my time under the wing of Ms. Restiano, all of the other teachers showered me with support and appreciation making feel apart of their musical family. Without such relationships I do not think that I would have found it possible to develop and grow as a musician in the manner that I have. Looking back on my music career, I am beyond thankful that my parents signed me up for lessons at the Academy. Not only because of the ambiance that surrounds it and the teachers that I have been able to learn from, but for the experiences that such a community of people has taught me in regards to both music and life in general. Through the Academy, I have learned how to be more confident not only while performing, but in my everyday life. For that I am filled with gratitude for all that the Charlotte Academy of Music has given to me. If you are thinking about signing your child up to take music classes, don’t send them just anywhere. Send them to the Charlotte Academy of Music where they will not only learn the art of Chopin and Beethoven, but the art of being a better performer and person overall.

Being connected with CAM changed my high school experience in more ways than simply continuing my piano studies. As an advanced student, I was offered numerous opportunities to get involved in the music world that I would not have had otherwise, and they certainly shaped my day-to-day life for the better. I helped run summer camps, thereby improving my leadership and communication skills. I taught music theory to children, which helped me work more independently. I had a formal senior recital which gave me an experience completely unique to me among my friends. And finally, I had a fantastic group of teachers over the years who were more than instructors but were also role models. My experiences as a piano student made me more confident, more independent, more driven, but most importantly, I have a skill now that I will cherish my whole life

I have been teaching at CAM for many years now. I first sought employment at the Academy to meet and build a network with outstanding colleagues as a learning resource for myself. I soon discovered that the teachers at the Academy are professional in every way and are always willing to share information and resources to further a student’s development. I have found that the teachers and staff at the Academy are more like family than co-workers. I also quickly discovered that the Academy provided many opportunities for my students to participate in performances, competitions, and to collaborate with other students and make friends. My students receive the opportunity to participate in a variety of musical activities in addition to their private lessons at the Academy to enhance their music education and give them the best musical experience possible. My experience teaching at the Academy and working with the owner, Regina Ziliani, has been rewarding for both me and my students. It’s an amazing place to work and share music.

My son took piano lessons with Charlotte Academy of Music (CAM) for 10 years. The academy, through its teachers and management, is a nurturing and caring environment. Not only does CAM provide the location for the lessons, but also many opportunities for the students to demonstrate their new skills in the many concerts and events put on by the academy.

The skills my son acquired from CAM not only contributed to many years of superior ratings in playing and theory from different events, but also gave him a place of joy in his life. His foundation of music from CAM has been the basis for his hobby of composition and he is pursuing a Minor in Music at college now. The blessed impact CAM continues to have on him through the love and knowledge of music cannot be overstated!

I honestly can’t say enough wonderful things about our experience with Charlotte Academy of Music. For the past six years, this place has been such a meaningful part of our family’s life, and especially for my son Iver (11). Those pre-teen years can be tough, and watching him navigate that while also living with Tourette’s hasn’t always been easy—but the confidence he has gained here is something I truly can’t put into words. Music has given him an outlet, a sense of pride, and a belief in himself that has grown so beautifully over time. A huge part of that is because of his teacher, Daniel. His patience, encouragement, and genuine care for his students is something really special. He meets Iver where he is, supports him without pressure, and celebrates his progress in a way that has helped him feel capable and confident. My younger son Owen (9) has also had such a powerful experience. He has ADHD and a very big, energetic personality, and it can be hard for him to slow down. But through his lessons, I’ve watched him learn to focus, take his time, and create something that he is truly proud of. Seeing that shift in him—watching him calm his mind and pour himself into music—has been incredibly emotional as a parent. Charlotte Academy of Music isn’t just a place for lessons. It’s a place where kids are supported, understood, and built up in ways that go far beyond music. I am so deeply grateful for Daniel and for the entire environment they’ve created. This has impacted my boys in ways that will stay with them for life, and I would recommend them to any family without hesitation.

They’ve especially enjoyed the opportunity to utilize their dance backgrounds with excellent choreography and dance at all levels. We have had an incredible experience with The Academy, particularly regarding their dance education and choreography. My daughter has participated in several of their dance workshops, and most recently, she was part of the Matilda Jr. production that performed at the Junior Theater Festival (JTF) in Atlanta. The growth we’ve seen in her technical skills and her overall love for musical theater has been remarkable. The choreography is not only professional and engaging but also tailored to help the students truly understand the “why” behind the movement. What sets The Academy apart is the environment the owners and staff have created. She felt constantly encouraged, not just by her instructors but by the other students as well. It is a true community that fosters both talent and confidence. She is already buzzing with excitement for the upcoming SpongeBob production and can’t wait for future opportunities here. Charlotte Academy of Music has been an incredible experience for both of our daughters through their musical theatre productions. The level of professionalism, talent, and heart poured into every production is truly exceptional. What has stood out most to our family is the strength of the music and choreography program. The vocal instruction and musical direction have helped our girls grow tremendously in confidence, technique, and stage presence. At the same time, the choreography is engaging, polished, and thoughtfully designed to challenge and develop performers at every level. We have watched both of our daughters grow not only as singers and actors, but especially in dance, movement, coordination, and overall performance ability. The productions themselves are nothing short of amazing — incredibly well organized, high quality, and full of energy and creativity. My daughter performed in “The Wizard of Oz” and “The Little Mermaid”. The choreography and dance routines were creative, energetic, and perfectly suited for each age group. The instructors do an amazing job teaching technique while making it fun and confidence-building.

I have had the privilege and pleasure of attending several of CAM’s production. Every show has been so well done. I expected the acting and singing to be stellar, but the choreography blew me away. All of the children ( no matter the skill level) moved and danced effortlessly . Every show has been led by professionals who strive for the best out of their students. Not only are the students having fun but their faces show such pride in their hard work. Good job CAM!!!!!

We enrolled our two older children, Claire and Ryan, in guitar lessons over 8 1/2 years ago. After 2 years of guitar, our daughter decided to add piano lessons as well. Our youngest child, Mikey, also started guitar lessons over 2 1/2 years ago and he loves it! From lessons, recitals, summer camps, and art classes, there are just so many opportunities that they have each enjoyed. And most of all, they absolutely love their teachers! Music is truly the best gift you could ever give to your children!

My son had been taking Piano Lessons at CAM for about 6 years now, he loves it. He started with group piano lessons and now he is in private lessons for about 5 years now. CAM offers a wide variety for activities such as summer camps, musical theater and art. During the summer we continue piano lessons and also do the camps they offer. My youngest was not ready for private lessons so he was able to do camp with his older brother to warm him up to the environment. CAM has very welcoming and wonderful staff. Thank you Charlotte Academy of Music for all you do.
