JumpStart Piano

Ready, set, play! JumpStart Piano gives kids a dynamic head start in the world of music. Your child will discover the piano, learn to read notes, build rhythm skills, develop proper hand position and technique, and start making real music right away!

What to expect

JumpStart Piano is a 12-week introduction to the piano for children ages 5 to 9 who are curious about music. Fast-paced, fun, and built for beginners, each class covers the essentials from reading notes and building rhythm skills to developing proper hand position and technique.

All materials are included and students present a special showcase performance at the end of the session!

Piano & Woodwinds Teacher

Dr. Jeffrey Foster is a versatile musician and educational leader dedicated to enriching the Charlotte, NC community through creative excellence. A proud alumnus of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Dr. Foster brings a wealth of experience as a classroom teacher, private lesson teacher, and instructional leader. In addition to being a part of our faculty at Charlotte Academy of Music, Dr. Foster also serves as a Professor of Education at Clinton College in Rock Hill. With a deep expertise in diverse education, Dr. Foster specializes in piano and woodwinds, offering lessons to kids, teens, and adult students. He is a recognized expert in diversifying music instruction, ensuring that educational experiences are inclusive, engaging, and culturally responsive. Dr. Foster’s career is defined by a commitment to inspiring both artistic growth and academic achievement in his students. He is thrilled to bring his background in instructional leadership and his passion for the arts to the Academy’s team.

Class details

JumpStart Piano meets every Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 AM for 12 weeks. The class is held in a small group setting where young musicians learn and grow together. Students will need a piano or keyboard at home for practice.
