Kania Mills

Kania Mills is a classically trained clarinetist/saxophonist from Charlotte, North Carolina. She received her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in Clarinet Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where she studied with Robert Listokin, Daniel McKelway and Igor Begelman. She has also had studies with Charles Neidich from Juilliard, and her masterclass performances include work with clarinetist Richard Stoltzman, jazz clarinetist Eddie Daniels, Alan Kay and the New York Woodwind Quintet. She is Professor of Clarinet and Saxophone and teaches Music Technology at Lenoir-Rhyne University. She teaches private lessons at Charlotte Academy of the Arts. She also teaches private lessons and is the music technician for the Concord Academy Marching Band and is the woodwind technician for Mallard Creek High School Marching Band.

Kania has been a member of the Piedmont Wind Symphony (Eb Clarinetist) for over 20 years and has performed with many Grammy award winning artists. She has been concertmaster for the Salem Band over ten years and is the lead tenor saxophone for the Salem Swing Band. She is also the manager of the Salem Band Saxophone Quartet.

Kania’s experience includes Broadway Theater Productions as an orchestra/pit musician (clarinet, saxophone & flute) with performances in New York. She is a WDAV Classical
Noteworthy Artist. She performs extensively as a soloist and chamber musician at many churches, colleges/universities, conferences, festivals, recitals, operas and musicals. She is a reed book player (multiple woodwinds) at The Green Room Community Theatre,Hickory Community Theatre, Community Theatre of Greensboro, Lee Street Theater and several others. She also subs for the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra, Salisbury Swing Band and Western Piedmont Symphony. Kania is also a recording studio artist and has worked on various projects for multiple producers and composers for film/compositions.
