A New Chapter Begins

You may have first walked through our doors for music lessons. Then came the recitals, theatre productions, summer camps, and friendships. For nearly two decades Charlotte Academy of Music has been so much more than music. And now our new name and logo finally reflect the bigger picture. Welcome to Charlotte Academy of the Arts.

Our new name that reflects everything we have always been and every exciting thing we are becoming. Music. Theatre. Dance. Visual Art. Summer Camps. And coming in the 2026-2027 season, new classes, workshops, and special events designed to inspire, connect, and ignite something wonderful in every single student who walks through our doors. Same incredible teachers. Same warm, welcoming community. A whole new chapter and the best is yet to come.

A Note from Our Founder & Owner

I asked our wonderful artist and website designer for a fresh new palette of colors, fonts, and shapes that project feelings of what the Academy is known for… excellence, warmth, and professionalism.  When I also considered achievement, hopes, dreams, and guidance stars came to mind.

Stars are not born fully formed. They begin as something small and full of possibility, slowly shaped by  the right environment, the right moments, until suddenly, brilliantly, they shine. That is what we believe about every student who walks through our doors. With nurturing, excellent teachers guiding them, every student has the ability to achieve something remarkable.

Please bear with us as “CAM” makes its gradual exit — updating signage and materials takes time, and we appreciate your patience as we bring our new name to life everywhere it belongs.

Saying goodbye to the name Charlotte Academy of Music, affectionately and so widely known as CAM, has been a process for me for quite some time. But I am comforted by the fact that this change is more reflective of what we have always truly been. And I am so excited for our future together at the Academy.
